Bengaluru, Jan. 4 -- From having virtually no indigenous capability at the time of Independence to earning the confidence of the Indian Air Force for large-scale induction, India's journey in defence and aerospace has been nothing short of transformational, ISRO Chairman V Narayanan observed on Sunday.

Recalling the country's early years, Narayanan said that in 1947 India had nothing to its credit in critical areas such as missiles, launch vehicles or satellites. "Twenty-five years ago also, we were not having much. But today, tremendous progress has taken place. What we are witnessing now is a great accomplishment of the country," he told reporters at the Tejas-25 national seminar hosted by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA).
