Guwahati, June 1 -- The Indian Air Force on Sunday morning rescued 14 people who got trapped in Bomjir village near the Assam-Arunachal border.

The 14 people got trapped in the village amid rising water levels in several rivers across Assam and Arunachal Pradesh due to continuous rainfall over the past few days.

The rescue operation was launched early this morning following a request made by Tinsukia District Commissioner Swapneel Paul, who had received information about the trapped individuals on Saturday evening.

Officials said that the district administration swiftly sought assistance from the Indian Air Force and also alerted officials in Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh to coordinate the rescue efforts.
