New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- The Indian Air Force (IAF) has intensified its flood relief and rescue operations in Northern India, focusing primarily on the severely affected Jammu and Punjab regions.

Mi-17 and Chinook helicopters have carried out over 55 sorties as part of ongoing air operations, rescuing stranded civilians, including Indian Army and Border Security Force personnel from flood-affected areas in the Dera Baba Nanak, Pathankot, and Akhnoor sectors, a Defence Ministry statement said.
