Chennai, Nov. 14 -- An Indian Air Force (IAF) Aircraft 'Pilatus PC-7,' which was on a routinetraining mission, crashed near Tambram this afternoon.
The pilot ejected himself safely, defence sources said.
A Court Of Inquiry (COI) has been ordered to ascertain the cause, it said.
Reports from the accident spot said the aircraft crashed following a technical snag soon after ittook off from the IAF Tambaram Airbase.
As the pilot notiched the snag, he ejected himself out safely using a parchute before the trainer aircraftcrashed near a salt pan at Tiruporur in adjoining Chengalattu district near Mahabalipuram.
None was hurt in the mishap.
