Moscow, June 4 -- The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will contribute to the repair works on the protective shelter of the now-defunct Chernobyl nuclear power plant located near the abandoned city of Pripyat in northern Ukraine, IAEA chief Rafael Grossi said on Tuesday.
"We are also considering ways and means, by which the agency will contribute to the important repair work that will have to be conducted at the Chernobyl safety containment, which, as you may remember, was damaged earlier in the year," Grossi told reporters during his visit to Kiev.
However, all military activities in the vicinity of the plant need to be minimized or ceased to conduct the repair works, the IAEA chief added.
