Los Angeles, Aug. 15 -- More than three decades after "Home Alone" first delighted audiences, director Chris Columbus has poured cold water on any hopes of a faithful reboot, cautioning that the magic of the original holiday hit cannot be recreated.

The Oscar-nominated filmmaker, who helmed the 1990 yuletide (period around the time of Christmas) classic and its 1992 sequel "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York", both scripted by the late John Hughes, reflected on the film's enduring charm in a recent conversation with 'Entertainment Tonight'.
