Kolkata, Jan. 26 -- Actor Rajit Kapur, who gained immense popularity by essaying the role of Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi in an eponymous Doordarshan TV series in Hindi three decades back, feels most of Bengal thinks he is a Bengali.
Participating at an interactive session during the Kolkata Literary Meet (KALAM) here, Kapur opened up about how he was cast into the TV series by legendary director Basu Chatterjee and how the whole script-to-screen transformation happened.
He remarked "I think most of Bengal thinks I'm a Bengali", humorously adding he can grasp a little bit of Bengali, can't speak but can most definitely make sense out of it.
