Hyderabad, Dec. 27 -- President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2025 on Hyderabad-based mountaineer Vishwanath Karthikey Padakanti for his historic achievement of completing the Seven Summits Challenge. Karthikey is the youngest Indian and the second youngest person in the world to scale the highest peaks across all seven continents.
The national honour was presented on the occasion of Veer Baal Diwas, observed annually on December 26 to commemorate the martyrdom of the sons of Guru Gobind Singh.
The award recognises exceptional achievements by children under the age of 18 across six categories-Bravery, Social Service, Environment, Sports, Art and Culture, and Science and Technology.
