Hyderabad, Nov. 26 -- In a major outcome under the POCSO Act, a city court has sentenced a 50-year-old man to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a two-year-old child in a case registered at Kachiguda Police Station.

The verdict was delivered on Wednesday by the XII Additional Sessions Judge, Nampally.

The case was filed after the child's mother noticed severe pain and injuries and later approached police suspecting the relative who had been entrusted with the child's care.

Following medical examination and investigation, police arrested Sardar Trilokh Singh on June 22, 2024 and filed charges under Section 376(AB) of the IPC and relevant provisions of the POCSO Act.
