Hyderabad, Dec. 4 -- Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi and Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha Shobhan Reddy on Thursday welcomed the State Government's decision to merge 20 municipalities and seven municipal corporations with Greater Hyderabad, officially making it the largest metropolitan city in India.
With this move, GHMC's jurisdiction expands from 650 sq. km to nearly 2,000 sq. km.
Speaking at the inauguration of beautification works at the GHMC Head Office, the Mayor said the merger brings immense responsibility and expressed gratitude to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for his vision.
She said the decision will ensure balanced development in newly added areas and improve the delivery of civic services.
