Hyderabad, Dec. 23 -- : In an effort to address grievances of the transgender community and maintain public order, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Zone) S. Rashmi Perumal, conducted an interaction meeting with transgender persons operating within the zone here on Tuesday. Around 25 members of the community attended the meeting.
During the interaction, participants spoke about the challenges they face, including lack of social inclusiveness, limited acceptance, and restricted livelihood opportunities.
The police also raised concerns over public complaints alleging nuisance and extortion during social functions such as marriages and house-warming ceremonies, where large amounts were reportedly demanded in the name of blessings, causing...
