Hyderabad, March 27 -- The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Friday announced a boycott of the upcoming Legislators' Sports Meet 2026, with its working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) questioning the timing of the event amid pending public issues.

The Congress government in Telangana is set to organise the first-ever sports meet for MLAs and MLCs in Hyderabad on March 28 and 29, aimed at promoting fitness and camaraderie among public representatives.

Objecting to the move, KTR said it was inappropriate to hold such events when several public issues remain unresolved.

"Is it appropriate to conduct sports events when people across sectors are facing multiple challenges?" he asked.
