Hyderabad, Dec. 23 -- Surgeons at BirthRight, Rainbow Hospitals, Nanakramguda, have successfully performed a highly complex advanced laparoscopic surgery to remove 11 large uterine fibroids weighing approximately 2.7 kilograms from a 26-year-old woman, while preserving her uterus and future fertility.
The fibroids had caused the uterus to enlarge to the size of an eight-month pregnancy, making the procedure technically challenging, the hospitals said in a release here on Tuesday.
The surgery was led by Dr. Manasa Badveli, Senior Consultant Gynaecologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon, who opted for a minimally invasive approach despite recommendations for open surgery at other hospitals.
