Hyderabad, Dec. 28 -- In a swift crackdown, Tolichowki Police apprehended a five-member gang involved in extortion and wrongful restraint and recoveried four mobile phones used in the crime, police said on Sunday.
The gang allegedly targeted Junaid Makhdoomi, an Amazon employee, recently, forcibly entering a residence in Akbarpura, MD Lines, and threatening to circulate videos on social media unless paid, said tolichowki Station House Officer L Ramesh Naik in a release here.
Under pressure, the victim transferred Rs. 46,000 to one of the accused via the 'Cred' app.
Acting on credible information, police nabbed the accused near AI-Kabir Restaurant, Tolichowki X Roads in the city on Saturday night .
