Hyderabad, Dec. 28 -- Citizen pressure and swift enforcement by authorities have triggered a major clean-up drive at Pragathi Nagar (Ambeer) Lake in the city, which had been choked by years of illegal dumping and sewage inflow.
Once a vital water body linking Kukatpally and Pragathi Nagar, the lake had gradually turned into a waste heap due to rapid urban growth and lack of regulation.
Dumping of chicken, meat and fish waste not only polluted the lake but also made the surrounding areas unlivable due to persistent foul odour.
