Hyderabad, March 10 -- A major accident was narrowly avoided at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) Shamshabad, near here on Monday when an IndiGo Airlines flight from Goa was forced to execute a reverse takeoff to prevent a potential collision.

According to airport authorities, IndiGo flight 6E6973 was en route from Goa to Visakhapatnam with 150 passengers on board. As the aircraft was preparing to land at Shamshabad airport, Air Traffic Control (ATC) officials cleared it for landing and initiated the hydraulic gear for touchdown. However, as the plane approached the runway, ATC noticed another aircraft taking off at the same time.
