Shillong, April 18 -- Meghalaya-based environmentalist H Bansiewdor Nonglang, who has been on a hunger strike since April 9, was rushed to the hospital after his health condition deteriorated on Friday.
Nonglang, who is the chairman of Green Tech Foundation (GTF), went on indefinite hunger strike to pressure the state government to scrap the MoU for a proposed luxury resort at Lumpongdeng island in a manmade lake at Umiam.
"I have fasted for nine consecutive days and done all I can as a leader. But I must consider my people; fellow Green Tech Foundation leaders are now urging me to end the hunger strike," the GTF Chairman said before he was shifted to Civil Hospital, Shillong from Malki ground.
