Hyderabad, May 8 -- Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Friday called upon people to actively participate in blood donation and voluntary service activities, stating that serving humanity gives true meaning to life.
Speaking at the World Red Cross Day and World Thalassemia Day celebrations organised by the Indian Red Cross Society, Telangana Branch, at Lok Bhavan, the Governor said this year's theme, "United in Humanity," highlights society's responsibility to support people in distress and need.
He paid tributes to Red Cross founder Henry Dunant, inaugurated a blood donation camp, distributed certificates to blood donors and provided nutrition kits to children suffering from thalassemia.
