Bengaluru, March 27 -- Karnataka's initiative to eliminate cervical cancer is set to expand, with Chikkaballapur district being considered as a model for the statewide immunisation and screening programme.

Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao announced that a proposal to extend the HPV vaccination drive to Chikkaballapur is under review, reinforcing the government's commitment to broader coverage.

"Chikkaballapur will serve as a model, and we will expedite expansion statewide," he stated.

Meanwhile, Karnataka continues to face a significant challenge, as many women remain hesitant to undergo screening due to social stigma and lack of awareness.
