Tattapani, Jan. 14 -- Thousands of devotees from across Himachal Pradesh and neighbouring states took a holy dip in the sulphur-rich hot water springs at Tattapani on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti today.
The ritual bathing began around 4 am early morning and continued throughout the day amid heavy inflow of pilgrims.
Located about 56 km from on the banks of the Sutlej river, Tattapani is renowned for its natural hot springs, where water temperature remains warm even when the surrounding temperature drops to 4-6 degrees Celsius. Devotees believe that bathing in these springs cures skin ailments due to the presence of sulphur.
