Shimla, Jan. 10 -- A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in Himachal Pradesh High challenging the State government's decision to shift the office of the Himachal Pradesh State Commission for Backward Classes from Shimla to Dharamshala.

The PIL, filed before the division bench of Chief Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhiwalia and Justice Jiya Lal Bhardwaj by one Ram Lal Sharma, assails the Himachal Pradesh government for the decision of January 7, 2026, contending that the move was arbitrary and influenced by the recent appointment of the new Chairman of the Commission, who belongs to Kangra district.
