Shimla, Oct. 25 -- The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister SS Sukhu, today approved the conversion of 1,000 existing diesel/petrol taxis into electric taxis. This move provides a 40 percent subsidy under the Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgar Yojna.
The Cabinet approved significant amendments to the Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojna to benefit more students. The family income limit for beneficiary students was tripled, increasing from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 12 lakh per annum. Additionally, the education loan facility at a one percent interest rate will now include post-graduation courses.
The honorarium for Special Police Officers (SPOs) was enhanced by Rs 300 per month, benefiting 510 SPOs, effective from April 1, 2025.
