Shimla, Jan. 5 -- Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday announced that the Himachal Pradesh government has decided to develop a world-class Him-Chandigarh Township along the border of Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, close to the industrial hub of Baddi.
Interacting with media persons, the Chief Minister said the Council of Ministers has approved the acquisition of about 3,400 bigha of land for the proposed township. He added that landowners' consent has largely been obtained and the process to acquire up to 3,700 bigha is currently underway to meet planning requirements. The township will be developed in a phased manner to ensure planned urban growth and adequate civic infrastructure.
