Shimla, Dec. 2 -- Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has identified 953 ineligible individuals, mostly from Hamirpur district, who had registered themselves as construction and MNREGA workers to secure welfare benefits.

The Board has now begun the process of initiating FIRs against such individuals, many of whom are reportedly financially well-off and have availed benefits meant exclusively for labourers.

As part of an extensive verification exercise launched to identify genuine beneficiaries, the Board has so far verified 9,635 registrations across the state.
