Palampur, Feb. 23 -- Himachal Pradesh's first In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) laboratory at Banuri in Palampur has achieved a major breakthrough by producing three high genetic merit Jersey calves from a single elite donor cow within one year, marking a significant stride in rapid breed improvement.
The IVF lab, set up under the Animal Husbandry Department and funded by the Central government's Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying through the Himachal Pradesh Livestock and Poultry Development Board, was inaugurated in January 2025 by Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Chander Kumar.
