Shimla, Oct. 6 -- Following the deaths of nine children from fever in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, samples of the medicines given to the children were sent for testing.

Of these, samples of Nexa DS cough syrup, manufactured in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, passed the test. The test revealed that the children did not die from consuming Nexa syrup.

The Himachal Drug Department heaved a sigh of relief at the report. The Health department had yesterday banned the production of Nexa DS syrup, as well as all other syrups shipped to Madhya Pradesh.

Now, after the samples passed, the ban on Nexa DS cough syrup in Himachal Pradesh has been lifted.
