Shimla, March 1 -- Himachal Pradesh has recorded one of its driest February months in over a century, with the state receiving the ninth lowest rainfall for the month since 1901.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, the state received only 15.7 mm rainfall in February against the normal of 101.8 mm a massive deficit of 85 per cent.

The data shows that all districts experienced large deficient rainfall during the month.

Solan recorded a 96 per cent deficit, Sirmaur 94 per cent, Una 94 per cent, and Bilaspur 93 per cent. Even traditionally wetter districts such as Chamba and Kangra witnessed deficits of 89 per cent and 90 per cent respectively.
