Shimla, Sept. 27 -- In a significant move to tackle growing drug addiction, a coalition of 55 social and cultural organizations has formally launched the Himachal Forum Against Drug Abuse (HFADA).

The forum aims to channel collective energy into a structured public movement, shifting the approach from mere punishment to one of support, treatment and awareness.

The decision and the initial strategy were finalized during a two-day capacity-building workshop held on September 25-26, which saw participation from 41 of the member organizations.

Addressing a press conference today, HFADA president Deepak Sanan outlined the forum's ambitious plan for the next three to six months.
