Shimla, Oct. 10 -- The Himachal Pradesh High Court today dismissed a petition challenging the extension granted to Dr. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel as the Vice-Chancellor of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni.
The court, while acknowledging flaws in his original appointment, ruled that the Chancellor's decision to extend his term was legally permissible.
The petition, filed by Dr. Dharam Paul Sharma, a Dean at the university, contended that Dr. Chandel's initial appointment in May 2022 was illegal.
The core argument was that the Selection Committee was not constituted as mandated by the state university act.
