Shimla, Dec. 22 -- Himachal Pradesh High Court directed the State Government to release enhanced gratuity and leave encashment benefits to retired teachers of government-aided colleges, holding that such teachers are entitled to service benefits at par with government college faculty.

Justice Sandeep Sharma passed the common judgment while allowing two writ petitions filed by Shramja Munjal and Dr. Anita Khanna, both retired associate professors from a 95 per cent grant-in-aid college affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University. The petitioners had challenged the partial denial of gratuity and non-payment of leave encashment arising from enhanced earned leave.
