Shimla, March 2 -- Himachal Pradesh High Court on Monday heard detailed arguments for nearly two and a half hours in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Anjali Soni along with BJP councillors, challenging the extension of the tenure of Shimla Mayor Surinder Chauhan and Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal from two and a half years to five years.

The matter was taken up by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia and Justice Bipin Chandra Negi, which deferred further hearing till Thursday after the Holi holidays.
