Shimla, Dec. 29 -- In a remarkable intervention to protect public health and environmental rights, Himachal Pradesh High Court has ordered the shifting of poultry farms operating near habitations, laying down a clear directive that such units must be located at least 500 metres away from residential areas, irrespective of their size or capacity.
A bench of Justice Ajay Mohan Goel passed a 14-page order by allowing a writ petition filed by an ex-serviceman from Pathiar (Chatth) village in Jawali tehsil of Kangra district.
