Shimla, Aug. 11 -- Himachal Pradesh Government has formally withdrawn two notifications issued by the Secretary to the Governor for the appointment of Vice-Chancellors at Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni (Solan), and CSK Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur, terming them beyond the legal competence of Raj Bhavan.
The Agriculture Department's notification, issued today with the approval of the competent authority, affirms that under the Himachal Pradesh Universities of Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry Act, 1986, the Governor, when acting as Chancellor, is an officer of the university and bound to follow government directives.
