Shimla, March 21 -- The Himachal Pradesh government has unveiled an ambitious plan to strengthen forest conservation and boost tourism as a key driver of the state economy, with significant financial allocations and community participation at its core.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu who was presenting the year 2026-27 budget in the assembly annouced various scheme of tourism promotion and increasing the footfall of tourists in the stateUnder the Rajiv Gandhi Vansamvardhan Yojana, afforestation has already been carried out on 1,100 hectares, while a target of 4,000 hectares has been set for the coming phase. The scheme will actively involve Mahila Mandals and Yuva Mandals, with an outlay of Rs 55 crore.
