Shimla, March 27 -- The Himachal Pradesh government has increased the stamp duty for granting land purchase permissions under Section 118 of the HP Tenancy and Land Reforms Act, 1972.

The revised rates were first introduced through an ordinance in February 2025 and are now being formalised through a bill tabled in the state assembly by Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi on Wednesday.

To increase revenue from land transactions involving non-agriculturists, the government has doubled the stamp duty from six percent to twelve percent. The hike applies to land transfers based on both ownership and lease agreements.
