Shimla, Oct. 28 -- In Himachal Pradesh, 1,700 people have lost their lives during the monsoon season in four years, and losses of Rs 46,000 crore have been incurred.

Similarly, two-thirds of traditional springs are drying up, leading to a decline in the population of some villages. The incidence of forest fires is also increasing, with 2,580 incidents recorded in 2024-2025, compared to 856 incidents in 2022-2023, as per the Himachal Pradesh Human Development Report 2025.
