Shimla, July 13 -- Himachal Pradesh has launched an aggressive, state-wide crackdown on narcotics, emerging as a proactive state in the fight against drugs.

A government spokesperson said here on Sunday that in just two and a half years, the state has registered 5,004 NDPS cases and seized illegal assets worth Rs 36.95 crore, sending a strong message to drug traffickers and syndicates.

"With the rise in synthetic drug abuse-especially heroin, MDMA, and Tramadol-prompted urgent action, particularly in districts bordering pharmaceutical hubs.

The government quickly placed anti-drug efforts at the top of its agenda and adopted a zero-tolerance policy," he said.
