Shimla, May 15 -- In a shocking case of alleged dowry harassment and mariticide, a 26-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her husband in Ghanperi village under the Shoghi Police Outpost in Shimla district.

The incident came to light on May 14, when the victim's family discovered her half-burnt body buried in a pit in the courtyard of her house.

The deceased has been identified as Gulshan, who was married to Tota Ram, a security guard by profession, in 2020.

The couple has a four-year-old son. According to police, the accused tried to destroy evidence by burning Gulshan's body using paint and wood before burying it in the courtyard.
