Mandi, Jan. 6 -- Mild tremors were felt in parts of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh today afternoon after an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale struck the region.

According to available information, the earthquake occurred at around 12:57 pm. The epicentre was located near Mandi, and the tremors originated at a depth of about five kilometres beneath the surface. Residents in and around the district reported brief shaking, which caused momentary panic among people.

However, there were no immediate reports of loss of life or damage to property from any part of the district. Officials said the situation remains normal and there is no cause for alarm.
