Mandi, Dec. 24 -- Panic gripped the Balh Valley early Wednesday after a leopard entered residential areas and carried out two separate attacks across nearby villages, leaving one person dead and three others with paw injuries, officials said.

According to the Forest Department, the first incident was reported at daybreak when the leopard strayed into human habitation in the Balh Valley area under Mandi district.

The animal attacked villagers in quick succession, creating chaos in the settlements of Chandyal and Bhadyal. Three residents sustained injuries caused by the leopard's paws and were rushed for medical treatment.
