Shimla, Jan. 4 -- The upcoming Panchayat elections in Himachal Pradesh are shaping up to be unusually challenging, with uncertainty over the poll schedule and a fresh administrative advisory casting a shadow over a large number of prospective candidates.
While political parties and aspirants have been preparing for grassroots elections, the state government continues to maintain its earlier stand of not being keen on holding Panchayat polls for at least the next six months, citing administrative and legal constraints.
Adding to the uncertainty, the Panchayat Raj Institutions Department has issued a fresh advisory cautioning potential candidates against contesting elections if they are involved in encroachment on government or public land....
