Tel Aviv, Aug. 25 -- Yemen's Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthis, fired a ballistic missile with a cluster warhead at Israel for the first time this week, the Kan state-run broadcaster reported on Sunday.
An investigation by the Israeli air force reportedly found that the projectile fired at Israel on Friday night broke up in midair, releasing several sub-munitions.
Israeli air defense systems are capable of intercepting this type of missiles, which was demonstrated during the military conflict with Iran in June, Kan reported. The failure to intercept the Houthi missile is being investigated and is not related to the type of missile used.
