Hubballi, Jan. 4 -- A young woman, identified as Manya Patil, was brutally killed in an alleged honour killing in Inam Veerapur village, Hubballi taluk, after marrying a man from a different caste against her family's wishe, police said on Sunday.
The deceased, reportedly aged 20 years and six months pregnant, was attacked by her father and two relatives using iron pipes and other weapons, and later succumbed to her injuries at a private hospital in Hubballi.
Following the incident, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that ensuring a swift investigation and delivering justice to the victim's family is the government's top priority. He announced that steps would be taken to establish a fast-track court to expedite the trial.
