Srinagar, April 7 -- Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kashmir on Monday evening, where he was received at the Airport by Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his advisor Nasir Aslam Wani.

Immediately after arriving in Srinagar, the Home Minister visited the family of slain Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Bhat, who was killed in a gunbattle in September 2023 in the forests of Anantnag, officails said.

Bhat, along with two Army officers - Colonel Manpreet Singh and Major Ashish Dhonchak - and a soldier were killed in the gunbattle . The operation, which lasted seven days, culminated with the killing of top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Uzair Khan.
