Mumbai, Jan. 16 -- The results of the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation elections have again underlined the firm hold of Hitendra Thakur-led Bahujan Vikas Aghadi on local politics, with the party securing a clear majority and retaining power in the civic body.
According to the official results, the Aghadi won 71 of the total 115 seats, comfortably crossing the majority mark and continuing its dominance in the Vasai-Virar civic administration.
The BJP emerged as the second-largest party, winning 43 seats. While this marked a significant improvement compared to the previous election, the BJP fell short of the numbers required to challenge the ruling party for control of the municipal corporation.
