Chennai, Oct. 16 -- Japan's Hitachi Energy Technology Service Private Ltd, part of the Hitachi Group, has decided to invest Rs.2,000 crore to expand its Global Technology and Innovation Centre in Chennai.

Hitachi Energy today inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government for this in the presence of Chief Minister M.K.Stalin.

According to the state government, the Rs.2,000 crore investment will be spread over five years and would provide employment to about 3,000 people.

In 2023, Stalin had inaugurated Hitachi Energy's Global Technology and Innovation Centre in Chennai. The proposed investment is in continuation of that.
