Badaun, Aug. 17 -- Chaos erupted in the Badaun district police department after history-sheeter Dhirendra escaped from police custody early Sunday morning.
However, in a swift operation lasting just five hours, the fugitive was apprehended near Sheikhupur Railway Station under the Civil Lines police station limits.
Dhirendra had been under police watch at the district hospital's orthopedic ward, where he was admitted after being injured in a police encounter.
He had earlier been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of Gyan Devi alias Ratrani, mother of Inspector Manveer Singh, during a robbery on the night of August 12 in Mohsanpur village under Islamnagar police station.
