Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 3 -- In a significant advancement for Kerala's healthcare and education sectors, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted approval for two additional Government Medical Colleges in the state, one in Wayanad and the other in Kasaragod. Each will offer an intake of 50 MBBS seats.

This brings the total number of new medical colleges approved during the tenure of the current CPI(M)-led Left Government to four.

Health Minister Veena George said the nod was accorded after the institutions fulfilled NMC requirements on infrastructure and academic facilities. "Steps will be taken to admit students in the current academic year itself," she added.
