Bhubaneswar, Oct. 3 -- union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today said the treasure-rich Hirakud Reservoir in Odisha's Sambalpur district has immense potential for cage fish farming.
Inaugurating the Common Facility Centre for Cage Fish Farming at Hirakud, built at a cost of about Rs 7 crore over 37 acres, Pradhan said the project will open a new chapter in Odisha's fisheries sector and help unlock the reservoir's vast resources.
Highlighting Odisha's progress in fish production, he said that after Ganjam and Balasore, Sambalpur has emerged as one of the state's leading fish-producing districts.
