New Delhi, July 16 -- The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has expressed grave concern over the increasing number of Himalayan glacial lakes and the potential threat posed by it that for catastrophic downstream floods.
The Tribunal, taking suo motu cognizance of media reports indicating a 10.81 per cent increase in glacial lakes over the past 13 years, has issued a directive to the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) to file a detailed reply with remedial measures within four weeks.
